Hannah de Bustos

Hannah is a lawyer at Avante’s Madrid office since January 2016. Prior to her joining, she worked at Uría Menéndez, where she began her professional career in 2010.


Her professional activity mainly revolves around civil and commercial procedural law and national and international arbitration, with a special focus on maritime law, transport law, and insurance law. Hannah regularly advises insurance companies, P&I clubs, shipowners, and companies in the logistics and transport sectors. Her professional experience encompasses all types of Spanish courts and national and international arbitration courts, where she acts as counsel as well as an arbitrator.

Since 2014, she has been an associate professor of Procedural Law at the Master’s in Business Law and Access to the Legal Profession at the University of Navarra.

Hannah is regularly recognised by the leading international directories for the Shipping sector. In 2024, she was recognised in Band 3 by Chambers and Partners, Europe (Spain) and as a Rising Star by The Legal 500 (Spain). Additionally, she is acknowledged by Best Lawyers in the areas of Arbitration and Mediation, International Arbitration, Maritime Law, and Transportation Law.
